Sustainability in Action: SAVIO’S COMMITTMENT
We believe our responsibility extends beyond researching and producing effective, compliant therapeutic solutions. As an active part of the communities which we operate, we are committed to improving people’s quality of life while continuously reducing the environmental impact of our activities.
This commitment was upheld even during the pandemic, when the SAVIO Group increased in-house production of a medicine included among the treatment options for COVID-19 patients, ensuring its continued availability. In addition, together with FAB13 (Italian-owned pharmaceutical companies and members of Farmindustria), we contributed over €3 million euros in goods and financial resources to the “Together without Fear” fundraising initiative, promoted by the FIMMG Federazione Italiana Medici di Medicina Generale (Italian Federation of General Practitioners) in collaboration with Cittadinanza Attiva, to support and protect primary care physicians.
Today, Our approach to Social Responsibility translates into tangible actions focused on community well-being, environmental protection, and support of the public health.
Through partnerships with local authorities, educational institutions, universities and nonprofit associations, we work every day to create value and contribute to the sustainable development of the communities in which we operate.
Some of the initiatives we have supported
Pavia, a Positive Impact City
In partnership with PMG ITALIA Società Benefit, we support the ‘Pavia Città a Impatto Positivo’ project, an initiative aimed at enanching sustainability across multiple areas of the city that hosts one of our production plants.
Through this project, SAVIO has contributed to the creation the park Sicurani in Pavia Ovest, the donation of a vehicle for people with disabilities to the Italian Union for the Fight against Muscular Dystrophy (UILDM), and the promotion of a culture of sustainability among students in several schools across Pavia.
Italian Association for the fight against Neuroblastoma
We have been collaborating for several years with the Italian Association for the Fight against Neuroblastoma O.N.L.U.S., an organisation dedicated to defeating Neuroblastoma and other Pediatric Solid tumors. Neuroblastoma is a cancer that originates from neuroblasts – cells found of the sympathetic nervous system – and primarily affects children from 0 to 10 years of age.
Each year, we support Christmas and Easter campaigns to fund basic research aimed at to better understanding the disease and developing new treatments. We also actively contribute by opening the doors of our production facility and encouraging intitatives, with direct involvement from both the company and our colleagues.
Free Mammography and Ultrasound Screeings WelfareCare – Società benefit
Prevention is a key driver of our values. For this reason, we have supported for the second time the ‘Free Mammography and Ultrasound’ initiative, dedicated to breast cancer prevention and promoted by WelfareCare – Società Benefit across various Italian regions. In particular, we were the Main Partner of the most recent event, held on 13 June in Pomezia, where our Head Office is located.
Thanks to this initiative, carried out under the patronage of the Municipality of Pomezia and the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, women in the local community were offered free screening services, contributing concretely to the promotion of a culture of prevention and healthcare.
Higher Technical Institute ITS Pharma Academy
Since its founding in 2019, we have supported in the ITS Pharma Academy Foundation and its mission to develop experimental training programs, in collaboration with Farmindustria, aimed at bridging the skills gap in the pharmaceutical sector.
On 19 July 2023, the Pharma Academy campus was inaugurated in Rome, providing students with classrooms, laboratories, accommodation and recreational facilities – designed to foster interest in a STEM field with high social impact.
The SAVIO Group actively collaborates with the Pharma Academy, delivering lectures and contributing to its mission of promoting youth-employer agreement, with the campus achieving a 100% placement rate for its graduates.
When it comes to health, we have always been committed to integrating social and environmental responsibility into our business. As an Italian company, we have deep connection of to our heritage and believe it is our duty to give back - through concrete actions, part of the value we create to the communities in which we operate.
